A little information about us here at Turquoise Spirit
Together we have combined 20 years experience buying and selling Native American jewelry and art. Over that time we have worked with many Native American artists helping to promote their work and make a living doing what we love. We created Turquoise Spirit because we are passionate about Jewelry, Art and Culture. We dream of a future where all peoples can live together in peace and prosperity and that by sharing and exchanging in the different cultural creations and art we discover new beauty and potential. We want to create a space where people can learn and gain new knowledge and we hope that you will find something here that will inspire you and bring you joy.
My grandmother taught grade school and lived on the Jicarilla Apache reservation in New Mexico in the 1960s. My grandfather was in construction and together my grandparents worked to improve life on the reservation and the small, secluded town of Dulce, New Mexico. During that time they made many dear friends and my grandmother collected many artworks and Native American jewelry pieces. These artworks and jewelry were often given to her as tokens of appreciation or as payment for some odd job or construction project. I always noticed my grandmother's jewelry and brooches and wondered how she had so many unique things the likes of which I didn't really see elsewhere. My brother and I used to pile on her beaded necklaces all at once and take pictures of each other covered in Native American jewelry which we didn't even realize the significance of back then. This is definitely how I developed my appreciation and knowledge of Native American Jewelry and Art of all kinds.
